Leave a comment » Canadians could face mixed messages in coming economic dataWho do you listen to? What is there to believe? So what is all this good or bad news mean for the Vancouver real estate market? Who do you listen to? What is there to believe? All I know that Vancouver is a very different market than any other market in Canada and propbably US. Yes we have retreated just like everyone else after the big "bang". But we also bounced back faster. In my May MarketWatch Newsletter, my advice was to buy. I could see the pent up buyers, who were approved by the thousands, just waiting for a positive sign to make a move. And it happened. Multiple offers and all. How many of you have missed it? Is too late? No it is not. The rates are still great and the prices have not made any major moves. The only cloud around is that our inventory has gone down and it may put some pressure on pricing as the sellers realize that the comtrol may have switched in their favor. But, and there is always a but, if the sellers get too greedy, the buyers will back off and wait them out. They know now that with all the euforia of the last market cycle, there is always correction.

The economists are not ready yet. There are still some negative signs out there. FINANCIAL POST August 9, 2009 "The sharp correction in the Canadian housing market appears to have come to an end, as record-low mortgage rates, affordable home prices, and the various incentives provided under the fiscal stimulus package appeared to have gained some traction and laid the foundation for the recovery in the housing sector," he wrote in a research note.
